Rickmansworth Town 4 Sun Sports 3 1947/48 Rickmansworth Charity Cup
A lesson to be learned
Rickmansworth nearly paid the penalty of forgetting that a game is not won until the final whistle in their Rickmansworth Charity Cup tie at Scotsbridge Meadow on Saturday.
Three goals in 30 minutes by Slade - the second from a penalty - put the home side in a strong position, but they seemed to think they could rest on their laurels, and allowed Ashcroft to run through and reduce Sun's deficit just before half time.
Sun further reduced the lead in the second half when Bull had a shot deflected past Giles by a defender, and Osborne equalised ten minutes from the end.
Two minutes from the final whistle Gibson won the match for Rickmansworth from a free kick.
