Wealdstone Call Them                   1937/38 season                      From the Watford Observer

Sun Engraving keep producing amateur stars, but the snag is they can't keep 'em.
If all their best players would turn out for them the Sun would take some dimming.
Half of the successful Wealdstone team are employees of the Sun.
R Lewis, the goalkeeper whom Watford wanted, R Pamplin, R Bidewell, a brother of Sid, the Chelsea half back now in the army (He doesn't mind khaki, as he gets three of four games a week), Ken Baldwin and R Nicholson, both former Watford schoolboy internationals, are all playing regularly for Wealdstone.
The forward line is led by Charlie Bunce, another Watford and Sun Engraving lad with some real talent.
There is yet another popular Sun Engraving player who has had experience with Aylesbury and Berkhamsted, and although Wealdstone would very much like his services he remains with his works team...his name is A Doig.

Sid Bunce, who broke his ankle playing for Sun Engraving against Dickinson's (Croxley) on December 2nd is going along fine and his leg is already out of plaster.
A collection made recently among his workmates reached £8.
