Sun Engraving 0 Watford Labour Club 3 1936/37 Herts Junior Cup
Sun Blotted out by Labour Club
Playing their best football since they defeated Shaftesbury in the Charity Cup last April, Watford Labour Club, who waived right of ground, put Sun Engraving out of the Junior Cup, winning a great game by three clear goals.
The Sun opened strongly and Southam and Callow tested Bruce.
G Beach had a beautiful header well saved.
After twenty minutes a good centre by Buckingham was met by G Beach, who left Lewis helpless with a fierce drive.
Brilliant exchanges characterised the play, but the Sun made the mistake of keeping the ball too close.
The Labour backs did not hesitate to clear with hefty kicks.
A Legg, at centre half, was an outstanding defender.
In the second half Russell netted the visitor's second goal.
Previous to the third goal there was a remarkable incident, J Beach hit the top of the net, but Lewis gathered the ball and put it outside.
The referee refused the Club's claims for a goal and awarded a corner!
Poetical justice was done however when G Beach headed through Buckingham's free kick.
