Herts County League Premier Division Pre Season Report 1994/95
Sun Sports are still the team to beat
The new Herts County League season kicks off again on Saturday with many teams emphasising that a solid start to the campaign will be more important than ever.
With teams familiarising themselves with new players and summer holidays still being taken, clubs are required to play mid-week games to avoid fixture congestion at the other end of the season.
Whether this will effect the chances of Sun Sports winning their third successive title remains to be seen.
It is not surprising that as both manager Roger Cowans and the vast majority of last year's championship winning side have remained at the club, Sun are approaching the new season in confident mood.
"We will have to go some to emulate last year's success, but hopefully we can look forward to another good season," said club spokesman Tom Barber.
If Sun look favourites to win the title, then the strongest local challenge could come from Chipperfield Corinthians, who finished third last season.
It would be safe to say that if they are to challenge for the league title they will be looking for a better start than last year.
