Sun were beaten 2-1 at home by Roussel Sports while Chipperfield went down 2-0 at Oxhey Jets.
Sun's Tom Barber admitted that they would have to play far better to work their way back into the frame.
"We will not give up but if we play like we did in the first half, we won't have a hope".
"We were diabolical in the first half and went from bad to worse once they had scored their first goal."
The visitors broke through after only ten minutes and it was only an inspiring defensive display from Paul Jones that stopped Sun from going further behind.
Sun's performance took an upturn after they had a man sent off for two bookable offences and on the hour they drew level when Doug Taylor headed home Andy Wood's cross.
Yet within five minutes Roussel were back in front although that was only the signal for 20 minutes of constant Sun pressure which, sadly for their title hopes, did not bring forth an equaliser.
