Sun Sports 2 Cuffley 0 Aubrey Cup Semi-Final 1994/95
Sun reach Aubrey final while Bovingdon do them a favour
With a fixture pile-up stretching a month ahead of them, Sun Sports needed to start their run-in on a high, and they could have asked for little more than they received.
While they were beating Cuffley 2-0 to reach the Aubrey Cup Final for the third successive year, Bovingdon were doing them an immense favour by beating Premier Division leaders Sandridge 1-0.
"The mass of games we've got to face makes it very difficult but Sandridge losing helps us no end," said Sun's Tom Barber.
"The good thing is we are hitting good form at just the right time. Richie Galvin was inspirational for us on Saturday."
Galvin was the key figure in the win over Cuffley. He opened the scoring after 37 minutes, rounding off a flowing move with a hot from 10 yards.
Eleven minutes into the second half, Andy Wood was brought down and Galvin scored from the spot.
There was further good news for Sun as Alan Langdale made a substitute appearance after a lengthy lay off.
Sun are due to meet Bovingdon tomorrow (Saturday) but any thank-yous for their win over Sandridge will be quickly forgotten.
