Sun Sports 4 Bovingdon 1 1981/82 Apsley Senior Charity Cup Final
Farewell Sun, hullo sunshine as Dave leaves on winning note
Sun Sports gave manager Dave Eldridge the perfect farewell present on Monday.
Eldridge, in charge for the last time, saw his side beat Bovingdon 4-1 at Croxley Green to lift the Apsley Senior Charity Cup.
The amiable Sun boss jets out to South Africa in a few weeks time for work commitments, so to finish with a piece of silverware from a hard working season was especially pleasing for Eldridge.
Sun were rarely in trouble.
They took the lead after ten minutes, Andy murphy scoring, following a Kevin Hearns' corner and went 2-0 up before half time.
Jimmy Totton scoring their other goal.
Bovingdon rallied somewhat after the break, but Hearns scored Sun's third before Ian Monk, driving the ball hard and low from a free kick outside the box, brought them back into the game.
With four minutes to go, however, Hearns made the game absolutely safe to head Sun's fourth and clinching goal.
Sun Sports: Gary Boarder, Tony Spicer, John Furie, Richard Dale, Dave Lamb, Andy Morton, Jimmy Totton, Andy Murphy, Kevin Hearns, Roger Cowan, Tony Duckett, Substitute: Dean Cripps (on for Murphy)
