Sun Postal Sports missed out on the chance to close the gap at the top of the table when they were beaten 2-0 at Elliott Star.
It was the second time Sun have lost to Star in the league this term and now trail the runaway leaders by eight points.
Sun played second fiddle for most of the afternoon and conceded both goals inside the first 20 minutes.
They had a few chances, Darren Grieves missing the best of them in the second half, and manager Terry Hows was impressed by the defending champions.
"They were very good, the best Elliott Star team I've ever seen by a long way," he said.
"I'm not saying the league title is a foregone conclusion, but the rest of us have got a lot of hard work to do."
"Elliott Star will drop points but so will everyone else, and they already have an eight point lead."
