Sun Sports 7 Standon & Puckeridge 2                     1991/92                        Aubrey Cup 3rd Rd

Reserves result ruins a sunny day for Sports

Spirits in the Sun Sports camp were distinctly divided at the weekend with the first team enjoying an emphatic victory but the reserves on the end of a nine goal thrashing.
Paul Foster struck a hat trick as the first team progressed in the third round of the Aubrey Cup, beating Standon & Puckeridge 7-2.
Sun strolled through the game without ever being stretched, despite giving away two sloppy goals.
Chris Price grabbed a brace with Mark Ash and the prolific Joe Maguire netting the others.

But at the other end of the spectrum was the reserves 9-1 defeat at the hands of BAC Stevenage in the Herts Intermediate Cup.
"I have never seen such an inept and careless display in my life," commented the Sun spokesman Tom Barber.
"The players totally let themselves and the club down, their attitude was disgraceful."
And it was not even as if the reserve side was a makeshift one as it featured eight players who have turned out for the title chasing first team this season.
The defeat ranks as the worst in their history.
For the record, Ian Pepper scored Sun's goal when they were only trailing 1-0.
