Leavesden Hospital 3 Sun Sports 1 1974/75 Herts Intermediate Cup
Lenny steers Sun into last eight
Sun Sports striker Lenny Stickland rammed his fourth goal in two games to take his side into the Herts Intermediate Cup quarter finals on Saturday.
Stickland scored two goals last week in his first game for the senior team this season, and paved the way for the defeat of Leavesden Hospital on Saturday with two goals in the opening 30 minutes.
He took only five to put Sun ahead.
He collected the ball on the right and slammed the ball into the top corner as the Leavesden goalkeeper committed himself to a cross.
Twenty five minutes later, Stickland struck again.
This time he beat two Leavesden defenders in the middle and prodded the ball past the goalkeeper.
rampant Sun flowed smoothly forward after the second goal and twice came within inches of increasing their lead.
First Alan Potts had a shot cleared of the line and just before half time he saw another effort rebound off the Leavesden bar.
Leavesden recovered at the start of the second half and with centre half Mick Eldridge urging them forward, threatened to reduce the deficit.
But their revival only lasted 15 minutes, and Alan Potts banged Sun's third after the Hospital goalkeeper parried another shot from the menacing Stickland.
