Former Bedmond sweeper Dave Aktinson finally made his debit for Sun Sports on Saturday, after being sidelined by injuries and the recent postponements, and he was the outstanding player in the 1-1 draw with London Colney.
Dennis Fletcher put Sun ahead after ten minutes when he converted a far post header from a Barry Smith cross and they looked like taking both points from an exciting end to end game, with Atkinson shoring up the back division.
Ten minutes from time, however, Kevin McKenna, who had produced some solid defensive work at Colney set pieces, failed to get enough distance on a header and Townsend nodded the ball into the net for the equaliser.
