Sun Sports held Cockfosters to a 0-0 draw but Martin Ashby could have sewn things up when he went through with just the goalkeeper to beat.
"Nine times out of ten Martin would have buried it," said manager Doug Davies.
For the first time this season, Sun played with three forwards.
"I was very pleased with the way things went," said Davies, who singled out defender Tony Spicer and Ashby for special praise.
