Sun Sports 1 Rickmansworth Town Reserves 3           1971/72                Herts Intermediate Cup

Town Res. shock Sun

There's no doubt which result caught the eye when local football followers scanned the first round scores in the Herts Intermediate Cup this week: Sun Sports 1 Rickmansworth Town RESERVES 3.
Town reserves, who had ten men for the first 15 minutes, admittedly had their regular Division two side boosted by three first teamers, but their performance in eliminating Premier Division Sun must still qualify as the surprise of the day.
Sun showed their striking deficiencies by piercing the Rickmansworth defence only once, and their own unsteadiness at the back allowed the visitors in three times.
But if it was a bad day for Sun Sports, their centre half, Ken Littleboy, has cause to bemoan the fact that he ever set foot on the pitch.
Littleboy's tale of woe began when he was booked for a foul tackle.
He then placed a back pass over the head of his own goalkeeper, Mick Devereux to give Town their third goal.
If that wasn't enough he was dropped after the game, and he plays in the Reserves tomorrow.
