Sun Sports 2 Rolls Royce 2                                       1972/73                                    HCL Prem

Penalty storm as Rolls' run stalls

Controversy stained Saturday's dress rehearsal for the Aubrey Cup final.
Su Sports, two goals down and apparently beaten, crept back to snatch a point with a revival sparked by a penalty incident that left Rolls Royce angry and bewildered.
Only 20 minutes remained when the referee pointed to the spot as players jostled for the ball.
Most of the players seemed to think Rolls had been awarded a free kick, but the row when the decision became clear dragged on long after the final whistle.
Kelvyn Ward converted, and rejuvenated Sun snatched a point with a late equaliser.
The official explanation for the decision was that Norman Dodd was holding Terry Birch  - an ironic blot on an excellent display from the young midfield player.
Sun are the first side to hold Rolls in 1973, ending a magnificent run of 12 successive victories and auguring well for an enthralling Aubrey Cup Final on May 12th.
But as Rolls bemoaned dropping a vital point, a tribute to their progress came from the Sun manager Tom Barber: "Rolls are the best side we have met this season," he said, "Dave Fisken has worked them into a first class team."
