Two in hospital after opening game tragedy

Two players were taken to hospital - one with a broken leg - as first division newcomers Sun Sports and Sarratt opened the County League season on Saturday.
Sarratt striker David Lane broke his right leg after making a harmless looking challenge in midfield during the game which Sun won 2-0.
It was a tragedy for tall, 28 year old striker Lane who broke the same leg playing for Sarratt several seasons ago.
Lane will be in plaster for ten weeks and there must be serious doubt as to his future football career.
The unhappy incident which happened just 20 minutes into the game could not be blamed on an y player.
"It was just one of those unfortunate things that happens now and again," said Sun boss Keith Hargreaves.
It was as Lane was being carried on an ambulance that Sun striker John McKenna was involved in a collision with his own centre half Kenny Littleboy as both challenged for a long throw in.
McKenna opened a nasty cut above his eye and he joined Lane in the same ambulance, McKenna needed four stitches in the cut.
The loss of Lane was the turning point in the game.
From that moment Sun took command.
They won with two goals just after the interval from Joe Harper - with a beautifully flighted free kick - and John Reeve following a flowing one touch move.
One man who made a pleasing debut was Sun's teenage goalkeeper Gary Boarder.
