Boss quits after 7-0 humiliation
Rolls Royce manager Bobby Bell resigned after his side's 7-0 hammering by Sun Sports on Saturday, just two weeks into his first season of County League management.
Bell, the former Watford FC favourite, has just had an operation on his foot which resulted in him being put in plaster for two months.
He felt he could not do the struggling Rolls Royce team justice, being unable to train and coach the players at their twice weekly sessions.
He informed the club's committee after the Sun debacle on Saturday.
Bell said, "There was no argument between myself and the players or the committee. I just felt that I could not do the job properly with my injury."
Bell, plainly upset about the situation, said, "I did not want to let the players down, they're a great bunch of young lads, but being so immobile I was just not able to communicate with them the way I know best - actually showing them things at training or during games.
The Scot may consider re-joining the club when he is fit, should the committee invite him back.
Sun Sports, managed ironically by Keith Hargreaves, a former Southern League team mate of Bell at Folkestone FC back in the sixties, found it easy going as they beat Rolls Royce 7-0 on Saturday.
Highlight of the match was a tremendous 30 yard screamer from Andy Vale.
