Sun had only themselves to blame for not progressing to the fourth round of the Herts Intemediate Cup.
Even before Baldock scored the only goal of the game midway through the first half, Sun should have put the tie beyond the visitors reach.
Andy Morton had a volley superbly saved in the second minute and striker Roger Cowan could only hold his head in his hands as the Baldock goalkeeper tipped his header over the bar minutes later.
Manager Dave Eldridge gambled late in the game by pulling off full back Tony Spicer and putting on substitute Neil border, but by then it was too late and Baldock held out.
To make matters worse for Sun, they had Cowan, full back Dave Lamb and Tony Duckett all booked.
