Sun Sports Reserves 2 Chorleywood Common 1                     1971/72              Herts Junior Cup

Injured Keen boosts Sun

Wounded hero Don Keen ended the plucky resistance of Chorleywood Common with the two late goals that took Sun Sports Reserves into the competition proper of the Herts Junior Cup.
Keen played at half fitness after an injury lay-off and was withdrawn in the last five minutes, limping badly.
"He will be out for another three weeks, but we will have him back for the next round," said Sun manager George Lapthorne this week.
Watford and District leaguers Chorleywood gave Sun a fright by taking a 54th minute lead -a tremendous 30 yard drive from ex Sun striker Jeff Trickett.
Before the goal, Common had hit the woodwork twice in the first half as they threatened to pull off an upset.
"They came to play good football and for 50 minutes they did just that," admitted Lapthorne.
But in the last half hour, the fitness of the County league outfit became the deciding factor, Keen, forced to play by a crop of illnesses and ineligible players, hit the net twice in five minutes as inspiring skipper Ian Wright drove the Sun into the last 16.
