Sun outshone, but pride is restored
Honest manager Graham Legg's faith in his Sun Sports team was restored on Saturday...despite going down 4-1 at powerful Cockfosters.
Legg said: "I was reasonably pleased with the way we played."
"We put together some good football and put some pride back in the shirts. Last week we simply did not compete and that is what upset me. I knew it was going to be hard this season when I took over the job, but I vowed that I would not let it get me down."
"I am not despondant by the result at Cockfosters, " he continued, "If we continue to battle as we did on Saturday, I am sure we will start picking up points again."
Legg's build up to the match was dealt a severe blow on Friday when goalkeeper Gary Boarder stuck a chisel in his thumb at work which needed nine stitches and forced him to miss the game.
After going behind early on, Dean Cripps levelled with a superb shot from the edge of the box, but the home team regained the lead from the penalty spot just before the interval.
Having conceded further goals, Legg changed his formation, increasing the forward line to four.
"It worked quite well, and I am tempted to start like that against Wellcome on Saturday," added Legg.
