Davies quits on eve of the new campaign

Sun Sports manager Doug Davies has resigned on the eve of the new Herts Senior County League season - but has promised to stay on until the club find a replacement.
Davies has been unhappy for some time at the club he took to third place in the premier Division last season.
"It's a culmination of things really. The attitude of several players and the fact that I get very little support. I can't go on doing everything."
Davies has worked hard during the summer months but has been upset at the lack of support he has received from players when he has tried to arrange pre season friendlies.
"I have to make nearly 30 phone calls to get a side out and it's just not on. Players either want to turn out and play or they don't. I don't want a lot of glory, just a bit of recognition."
"After a Saturday game I spend time in the dressing room collecting all the dirty kit together and sweeping the floors. No one offers to help, I just don't need that kind of hassle."
The Sun committee will be meeting soon to discuss Davies' verbal resignation and a decision on the club's future will be announced in the near future.
The majority of last season's squad are back with the club but skilful striker Mark Anderson has joined South Midland League side Pitstone.
