Sandridge Rovers 1 Sun Sports 2 1978/79 HCL Prem
Sun Sports still believe that they can win the Premier Division championship.
Their recent form has taken them to within striking distance of the top three clubs and the next few weeks will be vital.
On Saturday, they followed their 2-1 success over Leavesden Hospital with a similar victory at Sandridge Rovers.
And Sun still have to play the three clubs above them, Cockfosters, Borehamwood Rangers and Whitwell.
"We may have left it too late," said Sun's manager Graham Seabrook, "but we certainly have an outside chance, and the way we are playing at the moment, I would not bet against it."
the championship certainly seemed out of reach of the local clubs before Christmas, but with the wintry conditions affecting the top teams, results have gone against form and has left the final run in to the title wide open.
Victory over Sandridge was gained in the last ten minutes, when Denny Fletcher, who had an outstanding afternoon for Sun, connected first time with a cross from Alan Hall and volleyed the ball into the corner of the net.
Earlier, Sandridge had taken the lead after an injury to Frankie Woolner had forced manager Seabrook to reshuffle his back four.
But Dave Thomas levelled before the interval.
