Sun Sports 0 Boreham Wood Rangers 1 1972/73 HCL Prem
Let down by forwards
Sun Sports's glaring goalscoring deficiencies finally cost them dearly on Saturday.
Totally committed to fruitless attacking, a late break by Boreham Wood Rangers produced the goal that ended Sun's chances of league honours.
Only two sides in the Premier Division have score fewer than Sun's 27 league goals and the reasons were plain to see on Saturday.
Skilful and penetrative build ups were wasted regularly by stray finishing, and even Graham Seabrook, who has scored almost half of the side's goals, couldn't find the net.
Rangers cracked the code to Sun's defensive system - only 17 goals conceded in 23 league games - with eight minutes left, and despite the urgent promptings of lively substitute Denny Rayner, Sun couldn't get back on terms.
An injury to Kenny Littleboy kept him out of the Sun defence on Saturday, but it is really the front line that cause far more worries.
