Sun Sports 1 Hawker Siddeley Dynamics 0                         1972/73                     Aubrey Cup

Sun go through

Kelvyn Ward coolly converted a 55th minute penalty to give Sun Sports a place in the Aubrey Cup final for the first time in their history on Saturday.
The spot kick goal was all Sun had to show from a tie they were expected to win comfortably.
But, under difficult circumstances, it was enough to spark off jubilant celebrations.
"We are over the moon," said Sun chairman Geoff Fowler, and manager Tom Barber explained: "We have achieved what we have been after for years. We have never won anything and had never before reached a cup final".
The game begun badly for Sun.
Winger Denny Rayner tore the Dynamics defence apart with one intricate dribble in the opening minutes, and immediately collapsed with a pulled muscle.
Rayner took no further part and Sun took time to re-organise.
Facing an eight man wall of defence, Sun were inspired by Frankie Woolner, on his 21st birthday.
Woolner, only recently promoted from the reserves, prompted, and created for the strikers, but it was not until Graham Seabrook was brought down in the area that the elusive goal arrived.
Seabrook was later booked for a foul on the goalkeeper but Sun never looked like losing.
