Bedford FC v Sun Sports    3rd October 2015  SSML Premier

Sun win away at bottom based Bedford.

Sun Sports travelled to Bedford on Saturday and claimed their first league away 3 points of the season.

The Yellows came out of the starting blocks quickly and Karl Penny had the first decent chance of the game as he broke down the left but he left it too late as his shot was smothered by the Bedford keeper.

Joe Kelly had the next chance and went on a great run but found himself out of position in the end so ended up having to cross the ball over to Clement Asante who had a shot-come-cross which Penny again couldn't quite get onto the end of.

Eleven minutes into the game and Karl Penny found room to take a shot which hit the Bedford keeper's legs and fell nicely into the path of Clement Asante to calmly guide the ball into the net to make it 1-0.

Asante had the chance to make it 2-0 from a Karl Penny cross but his glancing header went wide.

Sun's number 10 (Penny) then found himself with room to move on the right side of the box but again the Bedford goalie made a good save.

Karl Penny again attacked and nearly got past the last man but the Bedford defender pulled him back. The referee got his cards out and gave him a straight red.

From the resulting free kick Joe Kelly got the ball over the wall but again the Bedford keeper was in fine form as he palmed the ball past the post.

With Sun one - nil up and Bedford down to ten men it looked like Sun's constant pressure would get them a few more goals but once again the ten men of the opposition fought back as Bedford's Tremayne Charles wrong footed Edwin Twesigomwe and fired a fine left footed shot past Ross Hampton's left to equalise for the bottom of the table club.

Frustration took it's toll as Karl Penny, who'd been having a great game up until then, saw red mist as he clashed with a Bedford player in the centre circle, Penny then saw another type of red as the referee showed him a red card and Sun were down to ten men.

Joe Kelly came into his own in the second half as he showed great composure on the ball and was always willing to take on the Bedford left back who couldn't cope with his tricks and speed as he roasted him time after time.

Clement Asante then had a chance as he caught up with a long ball in the area, he beat the defender but again the keeper blocked the ball with his feet, the ball came back to Asante whose shot was again blocked by the keeper., but the ball came out to young Dan Griggs who calmly slotted the ball accurately to hit the back of the net to make it 2-1 to the Sun on 58 minutes.

Bedford tried to rally and had a rare chance to equalise again and although the ball got past Ross Hampton, Edwin Twesigomwe was there to clear the ball away a few yards from the goal line.

A few minutes later and Ross Hampton came out to block another Bedford attack as they desperately tried to get a point from the match but the final whistle blew and Sun could celebrate some hard earned points.
