Harefield United v Sun Sports 19th December 2015 SSML Premier
Sun put their defeat to Hitchin town in midweek out of their minds on Saturday to beat Harefield United 3-0
United started strong but Ross Hampton in goal for Sun showed that he could show some of the outfield players a thing or two as he beat two United attackers with his deft footwork to clear the ball.
Ross was the man of the moment for the first 15 minutes as he was called into action three times to keep United from taking the lead with first a save to his right, a one to one clearance with his feet a few minutes later and then a diving save to his left to keep the game level.
Then it was Sun's turn to have a go. Karl Penny playing on the left beat one man and then wrong footed another defender in the area to knock the ball to Liam James who had a clear chance to score but the United keeper made a good stop.
Brima Johnson then had a fanastic run from the edge of one penalty area to the other including a cheeky knock of the ball past one defender and picking the ball up on the other side of him and then crossed the ball but it was just out of James's reach.
Half time was goalless but as Harefield had conceded 22 goals in the last seven matches it didn't seem that this would remain a bore draw.
And that was certainly the case as a Nathan Pooley found Ashley Lewis with a great header leaving the United keeper flat footed and helpless to make it 1-0.
From then you could feel the confidence drain from Harefield United as Sun continued to press.
Twenty minutes later and a goal that can only be classsed as a contender for goal of the season was scored by that man again.
Ashley Lewis got his second of the game as he beat one defender on the edge of the box and as he lunged to block the ball, at the same time another defender jumped to block the shot which never came as Lewis dummied him and as another player slid in to try and stop him Lewis managed to let go while still with the ball along the edge of the penalty area and the shot stretched the back of the United net. 2-0 to Sun Sports.
With two minutes to go substitute Clement Asante found himself with some space and with only the keeper to beat he showed great composure as he lobbed him to make it a well deserved 3-0 and another three points for Sun Sports to give the club a very nice and early Christmas present!
