Oxhey Jets v Sun Sports 26th March 2016 SSML Premier
Sun came away today the winners from the battle of Boundary Stadium.
Although the Sun pushed hard and pressured the Jets it was the boys in blue that scored first after only eight minutes
as Scott Pugsley connected well from a cross.
Sun seemed to deflate a little after this shock start and Jets had another decent chance soon after with a free Koomson header which had to be headed off the line by Ashley Lewis.
Sun had five new signings on show, two of who made their debut's on Tuesday night against Holmer.
Kerran Lattelle was one of the new signings and he struck a shot hard and low which was saved well by Harry Smart in the Jets goal.
As expected in any decent derby match there were a few clashes, niggles and late tackles and this match was certainly no exception!
Although the Sun tried to get back into the match they couldn't find a way through and as half time came it looked like Oxhey could be going home with a vital three points.
Paul Hobbs changed things around a little in the second half and it seemed to work as the partnership between new signings Louis Bircham and Kyle Johnson could pay off for the future.
Bircham saw Kyle Johnson in space and put a great through ball to him but Johnson's second touch made him go wider than he would have liked as the ball flew wide of the goal.
It was two Johnson's that combined as Kyle fed the ball through to namesake Jack who's cross fell kindly to unmarked Dom Dickinson to tap the ball in from six yards.
Relief could be felt lift from the Sun as they then took control of the match.
It was another new boy Zac Howells who floated in a fantastic cross finding Bircham who had made some room for himself as he had only the keeper to beat and slotted the ball into the net giving the Jets players a severe case of deja vu as they saw the game slide away from them.
A scuffle then broke out as frustrations came to a head when Jets sub Ellis Brown lashed out down by the Sun corner flag and kicked Ashley Lewis on the ankle for all to see.
Once the fracas calmed down the man in black Alex Kyriacou had no option but to show him a red card.
Oxhey's Scott Pugsley who had already been booked was lucky to stay on the field after being heavilly involved in the set to.
The Bircham - Johnson partnership worked out well again and Louis found Kyle in the right place at the right time again as Kyle Johnson smacked the ball into the back of the net at short range to make it 3-1.
Then came the goal of the game if indeed not the season as Greg Usher weaved his way through the Sun defence like a hot knife through butter as he avoided Howell's lunge, wrong footed Ashley Lewis and then proceeded to cheekily nutmeg Gary Wallace before slipping the ball under Ross Hampton a la Ricky Villa!!
Just when Oxhey Jets thought that a comeback was on the cards Sun went straight upfield from the re-start and Bircham passed the ball through the Jets defence to Karl Penny who crossed a hard and low ball across the six yard area for Kyle Johnson to pounce on again to get his fifth goal in four games.
Final score Oxhey Jets 2 Sun Sports 4
