Oxhey Jets v Sun Sports                       Jan 2015                                       St Mary's Cup 1/4 Final

On Saturday, Oxhey Jets fell at the first hurdle as they attempted to retain the St Mary’s Cup, exiting the competition 2-1 at the hands of Sun Sports.
In a flat first half Sun hit the bar, whilst Jets saw Jordan Gutteridge and Lee Armitt come agonisingly close to opening the scoring.
After the break it took a sizeable slice of luck for Sun to break the deadlock as centre-back Scott Bonner saw his clearance from the halfway line fly over the head of Jets goalkeeper Will Baker, thanks in no small part to wind assistance.
Soon after it was 2-0 as Ashley Lewis drove across the field and let fly to double Sun’s advantage.
But just five minutes later the hosts made the contest interesting as Armitt slotted home having been played in by Luke Lloyd.
The usually clinical Tim O’Mara passed up a pair of good chances and Jets were unable to find an equaliser as they crashed out at the quarter-final stage.
