Sun Sports v Cockfosters      4th October 2016       SSML Premier

The Sun had another home match against one of the in-form teams on Tuesday night when they faced Cockfosters.
Cockfosters were fast and seemed to be on the ball in the first half against a Sun side that had a few changes made to the starting line up from Saturday.
But again the partnership of Horwood and Wallace in the centre of defence stopped any Cockfosters attacks and when one did slip through there was always the other defender there ready to cover and get a foot in at the last minute!
Tommy Walsh played well in midfield, directing the traffic of well placed balls up front to Dom David and Kyle Johnson.
At half time the score was 0-0 and although Cockfosters were on top, the Sun could certainly be proud of their first half performance.
In the second half things remained pretty tight as both sides tried to find a way through to break the deadlock, despite the match being goal less it certainly wasn’t a bore draw.
Kyle Johnson found himself on a one to one with a ‘Fosters midfielder but put his arm up to shield him away. The referee noticed this and promptly gave Cockfosters a free kick and Johnson a red card for violent conduct.
From there the Sun were up against it and eventually the reds scored from a corner with a glancing header from Jeremiah Maja beating a despairing Evans in goal.
Sun fans hoped that there would be an extra case of déjà vu available from Saturday’s match but unfortunately this time there was no last gasp equaliser in store for the boys in yellow as near to the end a defensive mix up caused Ioannis Varouxakis a free run on goal and slotted the ball into the net to make the final score 2-0 to Cockfosters.
A result that looks worse on paper than it really should have been, and again the Sun players can be proud of the way they worked.
