Sun Sports v London Tigers 10th December 2016 SSML Premier
The Sun players may have thought that they would just have to turn up to get the three points today against bottom of the table London Tigers
How wrong they were.
The match took a while to get going while the pair of teams probed and tested each other with the Tigers understandably wary of going behind and the Sun easing themselves into the game.
Kyle Johnson sped down the right and was giving the Tigers left back a headache as he had trouble keeping up with him and tried to slow him down by tripping him or pulling his shirt throughout the game.
The Sun came close with a Chris Blunden free kick beating the weak wall and making the Tigers keeper get down fast to his left to make a great save.
From the resulting corner the Tigers broke fast on a break and had a great chance to take the lead with a shot whizzing narrowly past the post.
In an entertaining match that went from end to end it was the Sun's chance again and Kyle beat the Tigers offside trap and rounded the keeper, it looked like the hard job had been done and all that was left was to roll the ball into an empty net, however the ball had other ideas as it rolled past both posts and away from the goal.
Jack Johnson then had the next chance as the Sun looked to finally take control but the shot was straight at the keeper.
From the next attack, a flowing move which started from halfway in the Sun area found debutant Joe Gallagher, on a dual registration from Kings Langley, with room to strike the ball expertly past the Tigers keeper to make it 1-0
Gallagher nearly had the chance to make it two after Kyle had once again beat the left back, the ball was squared beautifully to Gallagher around the 6 yard area but he couldn't get a decent touch on the ball to guide it over the line as once again another chance went begging.
From a free kick the strong Gallagher headed the ball toward Kyle who got under the ball and lifted the ball over the crossbar.
Gallagher again was the playmaker when he headed the ball towards Gary Wallace who managed to get his head to the ball but again it went the wrong side of the post.
And it was these chances that the Sun would look back on later that day with regret.
It was one of the Tigers breaks from a Sun attack that the Tigers grabbed an equaliser when their forward was on a one to one with Matty Evans, unfortunately Evans went to ground too soon giving the Tigers player the chance to slot the ball past him.
Another free kick given around the Tigers penalty area gave the Sun another chance to go ahead.
The kick was headed out by a Tigers defender and went straight to Jack Johnson who promptly struck the ball on the half volley to smash the Sun into a well deserved 2-1 lead at half time.
In the second half, Dom David, who had a pretty quiet game, finally managed to get a right footed shot on target which the Tigers keeper managed to deflect the ball away for a corner.
And it started to all go wrong for the Sun when a high ball was pumped in the box and a Tigers forward got up well to powerfully head the ball in to make it 2-2
This then gave the Tigers an incentive to make to comeback complete and as the game continued to flow from end to end, both teams continued having close chances.
But it was London Tigers who scored again from a long ball hoofed over the Sun defence finding a lone Tigers attacker who had the composure to finish and give Tigers the 3 points and finally reaching double figures of points in the league.
Sun will certainly rue the opportunities that were missed this day as they join Leverstock Green as the only other team to be beaten by the Tigers in the league so far this season.
