Sun Sports v Tring Athletic   13th February 2016    SSML Premier

All square at the Avenue

Sun Sports came away from Bellmountwood Avenue with a share of the spoils in this mid table clash with Tring Athletic.
Tring had the first decent chance when Joliffe's right footed shot was saved by the strong fingers of Sun's keeper Ross Hampton.
Athletic then had another break with a cross from the left which found an unmarked Tring attacker with the room to head the ball down powerfully but which Hampton got down to quick enough to palm past the post.
Sun had their first corner of the game, Jack Johnson's cross was punched out by the Tring goalie, the ball fell to Karl Penny who flicked the ball over to captain Ashley Lewis who's close control fooled his marker, giving Lewis the space to be able to take a shot on the edge of the box.
However the shot was blocked and the ball came out to Deji Ikusemori who's volley went just the wrong side of the upright.
Halfway through the first half Sun had a free kick which Ashley Lewis took, his went through the wall but once again the ball flew past the post.
The first half finished goalless as the weather started to deteriorate.
Ten minutes into the second half and Tring took the lead from a corner.
The ball was a deep cross which looked like it was going out of the danger zone, however the ball was put back into the area by Blunsden - finding Dave O'Connor who headed the ball towards Taylor Collins who looked to be offside but the assistant referee's flag stayed down as he knocked the ball past Hampton and Tring Athletic were one up.
Sun showed their never say die attitude and didn't let their heads drop, barely two minutes later Sun were level thanks to some excellent footwork from young Clement Asante who beat two defenders and drove the ball past Matt Evans in the Tring goal.
Sun had got their second wind and continued to harrass and chase the ball to try and get all the points from the game.
No more less so than from Sun's captain Ashley Lewis who worked his socks off for the team and showed his fellow team mates that the game isn't over until the final whistle blows.
He chased what seemed at one stage a lost ball but he worked hard to get the ball back, knocked the player he was tusselling with off the ball, beat a covering defender, found some space to move into and from the edge of the penalty box hit the ball which unfortunately was a few inches the wrong side of the post.
But Tring were far from finished either in this end to end game as they had a long range shot that hit the crossbar and minutes later another that nearly found Ross Hampton wrong-footed although he still managed to palm the ball onto the crossbar and back into his safe hands.
Credit must also go to the ground staff at Sun as they worked an amazing five hours on the Friday to make sure that the pitch would be playable.
The turf had certainly been turned up and heavy going as the rain came down in the second half but a draw seemed to be a fair result for both sides.
