Tring Athletic v Sun Sports   21st November 2015  SSML Premier

Match report courtesy of Tring Athletic FC

Athletic started the better winning a corner after just 2 minutes and then a shot by Lee Stobbs after 5 minutes just clearing the bar. Just 6 minutes later the pressure told as Joe Naylor took advantage of a defensive error, picking up the ball then rounding the keeper before slotting into the open goal. Sun Sports then had a good opportunity to equalise following a defensive mix up, but keeper Matt Evans was alert to the danger by quickly dashing off his line to smother a shot from Sam Warrell. Another chance fell to Joe Naylor in the 17th minute when he was played through by Luke Dunstan but with just the keeper to beat he shot agonisingly wide. Further opportunities were being created by Athletic without testing visiting keeper Ross Hampton. Sun Sports then won their first corner of game in the 31st minute and had a brief period of good possession just before half time without troubling Athletics goal
Half Time: Tring Athletic 1-0 Sun Sports
The beginning of the second half saw Sun Sports take the game to Athletic winning two free kicks in quick succession, they then brought on two substitutes in the 54th minute, Roy Bryon and Liam James coming on for Jack Johnson and Curtis McCarthy. Athletic were finding it difficult to get going and were looking to rely on quick breaks, they then replaced Ryan McMahon for Ryan Sturges in the 65th minute. Following a half chance from Joe Naylor, after being played in by Luke Dunstan, then saw Sun Sports equalise in the 72nd minute. From a throw in the ball was played into Athletics penalty area, the ball bounced around but it was Karl Penny who managed to get the finishing touch at the back post. Athletic came straight back, Luke Dunstan shooting just wide and then young Joe Naylor, who was cleverly played in by Kieran Turner, shooting just wide much to the frustration of the home supporters. With ninety minutes up Sun Sports were lucky to survive a defensive error, again Joe Naylor anticipating the back pass, rounding the keeper but from an acute angle could not steer the ball into the goal. Athletic were on the ascendency, a flowing move down the right saw Kieran Turner shooting only for the ball to be deflected for a corner in the 5th minute of added on time.
