Sun Sports v Hoddesdon Town   17th October 2015   SSML Premier

Disappointing Sun lose to Hoddesdon

Sun failed to score in a first team football match for the first time since April 25th 2015.
They were without Karl Penny, Dom David, Ashley Lewis all out due to suspension and Nathan Pooley who was rested

It started brightly for the Sun as Dan Bourne left his marker for speed but shot wide of the post.

Edwin Twesigomwe had a great game and looked really impressive as he took control and took the ball from defence and turned it into attack as his superbly passed ball found Clement Asante up front who laid the ball to an unmarked Joe Kelly but his shot went wide.

Hoddesdon then had their first decent chance when a corner went over Ross Hampton and found a Hoddesdon forward on the goal line but his header still managed to go over the crossbar.

Twesigomwe threaded another perfect ball through to Marcel Jones who only had the Hoddesdon keeper to beat but the keeper narrowed the angle to perfection as the shot was palmed and the ball bobbled agonisingly the wrong side of the post.

Hoddesdon came back and thanks to a struck out leg from Scott Bonner the ball ricocheted over the Sun bar.

A few minutes later Hoddesdon had a shot from outside the area which beat Hampton but hit the bar as it looked like the Lilleywhites were slowly getting closer.

Hoddesdon Town came out for the second half the brighter and could have broken the deadlock if it wasn't for Captain Scott Bonner again being in the right place at the right time to get an important leg in the way to block the attack.

Bonner soon proved again during the next attack why he was the captain of the team.
As a cross came over he dived to head the ball out of the area and as a Hoddesdon player stepped up to shoot he bravely threw his body in the way of the ball.

Hoddesdon continued to press and from a long range strike Sun keeper Ross Hampton stung his palms as he saved the shot and caught it safely on it's downward pass.

Once again though a set piece was Sun's downfall as the corner on 58 minutes wasn't cleared and Hoddesdon took the lead.

Sun couldn't cope with Hoddesdon after that and they scored twice more in the closing stages of the game to take the three points.

Sun will hope for more luck next Saturday when they will be at home to London Tigers.
