London Tigers v Sun Sports 6th August 2016 FA Cup Extra Preliminary Rd
Drama was the name of the game at Avenue Park on Saturday in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round.
Sun Sports took control of the match from the beginning and then Sun's fans were rubbing their hands gleefully as Tigers had a player sent off after only ten minutes for a high elbow.
The first serious chance of scoring though came from a Tigers defender as he sliced the ball high and looping towards his own goal which the Tigers keeper managed to save acrobatically.
From the resulting corner the ball from Nathan Pooley found Dom David's head but again the Tiger keeper was in the right place at the right time.
David had another chance not long after when he held the ball up on the edge of the box and turned tight from his marker letting a shot off which was straight at the keeper.
Clement Asante was the next to have an opportunity but his right footed shot was tipped over the bar by the acrobat in the Tigers goal.
Half time 0-0
The second half started strongly for the ten men as the Sun failed to turn up for the first twenty minutes and although Tigers had plenty of possession they couldn't make it count and still didn't really worry the Sun defence.
A Dom David cross found Chris Blunden with a sideway diving header which beat the Tigers keeper and went the wrong side of the post.
Although Sun came back into the match the passing left a lot to be desired and they lost a lot of possession because of this.
Nathan Pooley had a good game for the Sun and put in some dangerous crosses, one which was headed off the line.
Pooley had another chance minutes later and his cross come shot was palmed away by the Tigers keeper.
Hearts were in Sun fan's mouths as on a rare Tigers attack Sun keeper Matty Evans seemed to bring down the attacker but the referee saw nothing wrong with the challenge.
Doubts were beginning to come into the Sun's fans that maybe it wouldn't be Sports's day and that seemed to be the case as a perfectly weighted ball split the Sun defence and found the Tigers sub who slotted the ball past Evans which rolled off of the post and over the line to make it 1-0 with around ten minutes to go.
Sun then pulled out all the stops to get back into the game and pressured the Tigers constantly with the best chance falling to Dom David who managed to hit the ball beautifully towards the top left but again the Tigers keeper managed to keep the ball out with another fantastic save.
Normal time was nearly up when the Sun went on the offensive again when a cross from Tommy Walsh found Nathan Pooley on the other side of the area whos volley was again saved as the Tigers keeper got down well to his right to parry the ball, Jack Johnson was the first to the ball who crossed it into the six yard area for Gary Wallace to put the ball over the line.
But the joy was short lived as the assistant referee flagged to say that the ball had gone over ther line before Johnson pulled the ball back.
Arguements ensued and flowed over into a free for all as injury time ticked on and from the dropped ball which the ref gave to the Sun the boys in yellow pushed forward for one last gasp chance as Dom David got a cross in from the touch line which the Tigers defence failed to clear, the ball fell to Alex Ward whos header fell to Tommy Walsh on the edge of the box.
Walsh controlled the ball with his right foot before hitting the ball with his left which sweetly hit the back of the net to make it 1-1 causing a massive player bundle to celebrate staying in the FA Cup.
The replay will be on Tuesday 9th August with the kick off at 19.45
