Sun Sports v London Colney 16th April 2016 SSML Premier
Sun today came off the park frustrated that they lost a match against a top three side which could have been avoided.
Two defensive mix ups in defence for the Sun lost the match.
The first came fourteen minutes into the match when right back Joash Nembhard made what can only be classed as a "schoolboy error" by passing the ball square across the penalty area when Colney's Spencer Clarke-Mardell was first to latch on to the faux pas and slie the ball past Andy Hopping in the Sun goal.
Hopping came out of retirement to help out the Sun as Sun's number one Ross Hampton will be out for the rest of the season with a meniscus injury.
After twenty two minutes Nathan Pooley surged forward with the ball and was clattered by a Colney defender, despite that the referee waved play on as the ball fell kindly to Louis Bircham who beat his man and the ball beat the keeper to equalise for Sun.
However the curse of the defence reared up again two minutes later as a high ball was launched onto the edge of the Sun penalty area.
Edwin Twesigomwe appeared to dither about whether to head the ball away or leave it to keeper Hopping. It didn't appear to the spectator that Hopping called for the ball but Jack Woods for London Colney took full advantage of the situation by lobbing the out of position Hopping to make it 2-1 to Colney.
Sun fought back and had some good chances with Nathan Pooley having a decent shot saved, Louis Bircham having another shot go just wide and Ashley Lewis having a shot cleared off the goal line.
The second half continued in the same vein as Sun took the game to London Colney and again created plenty of chances all of which unfortunately failed to find the target.
At the moment the forward line looks strong for the Sun but the defence is lacking in confidence.
