Sun Sports v Elliott Star Aug 2002 HCL
Star eclipse the Sun
Star had a few chances in the first-half, with Tommy Armit going close, but the Sun players went into the break wondering what they had to do to score.
Sun went into the second half as they left the first, on the attack, but slowly Star started to play and a move up the right ended in James O'Connoll putting Star in front.
Sun's reaction was to go for broke and again Star repelled their furious attacks.
Sam O'Connoll came on for the injured Dean Shuttleworth, and Sam-the-man then went up the right wing and put across a glorious ball which Ben Taylor tucked away to make it 2-0 to Star.
Aaron Murphy came on for Rod McGurk, and he hit a shot from just inside the Sun half, which had their keeper back-pedalling and relieved to see the ball sail just over the bar.
Murphy repeated this type of shot again two minutes later, and was again unlucky as the ball just went wide.
Sun were still blowing a storm and Howard brought off a miraculous block on the line, and then went on to do a few press ups to show the Star's supporters just how fit he was.
Sun scored with ten minutes to go from a free kick from 25 yards out resulting in a well-deserved goal.
It was a superb win against a strong team who will be near the top of the Herts League next April.Sun Sports 1 Elliott Star 2
