Wembley v Sun Sports 13th October 2015 SSML Premier
Sun win again at Wembley
Sun return again from Vale Farm with three points and a clean sheet for the second season in succession.
It was a closely contested match with both sides losing important battles in midfield and failing to take chances in front of goal.
Wembley started strongest and had a couple of chances early in the game which they failed to capitalise on.
Saying that the Sun defence stood firm and put the tackles in and made important blocks when it mattered.
Nathan Pooley had the first real chance for Sun Sports when he recieved a long ball from defence courtesy of a poor headed clearance from the Wembley defender, but his trusty left foot shot was blocked by that same defender.
Nevertheless this gave Sun the impetus to finally take the game to Wembley and from the resulting Junior Bashiri corner the cross was deftly flicked at the near post by Joe Kelly and headed on by Karl Penny over the Wembley keeper and into the six yard box.
Scott Bonner couldn't get hold of it properly in the scramble and as the ball was cleared it fell to Liam James who also tried to connect with the ball but also couldn't get a decent shot on target.
Near the end of the first half Nathan Pooley started another move from the left with a fantastic cross field ball over to Junior Bashiri who darted down the right wing and crossed the ball over finding Joe Kelly on the edge of the area, he neatly passed the ball back to Pooley who beat two or three defenders as he weaved his way through but his shot went wide of the post.
The second half continued much like the first half, ebbing and flowing with both sides trying to break the deadlock but it was Wembley who looked like they would take first blood with a free kick narrowly going over the crossbar and a few minutes later a long range shot left Sun's keeper Ross Hampton rarely out of position as it hit the post and came back out to a Wembley midfielder who clearly dithered on the ball wasting his opportunity.
Within minutes Wembley had another chance with another long range strike which thumped off the crossbar and shook the net making the Wembley fans think that they had taken the lead.
In the last minute of the game a quick one-two between Dan Bourne and Karl Penny gave Bourne the chance to cross the ball low to the near post for Clement Asante to scramble the ball in past a Wembley defender and the keeper to make it 1-0 to the Sun.
A hard fought three points and just as important no bookings for Paul Hobb's men.
