Sun Sports v FC Broxbourne Borough    13th August 2016     SSML Premier

Sun go into Tuesday's next match away to Colney Heath with more confidence after a fantastic 4-1 win over FC Broxbourne Borough.
But it was Boro who started the strongest by putting some great balls down the wings for their attackers to go for, only to be mopped by the Sun defence with the partnership of Wallace and Horwood gelling well, taking nothing away from Jamie Speers and Lewis Craze as right and left backs respectively who pressured and hasselled the Boro attackers leaving them no time to dwell on the ball.
But with ten minutes gone the deadlock was broken with a fine Deji Ikuzemori header finding Chris Blunden to tuck the ball under the Boro keeper to make it 1-0 to the Sun.
Once Boro went a goal down the confidence drained away and Sun settled down to playing some great inter passing movements with the midfield putting through a perfectly weighted ball through to Chris Blunden who in turn put a great ball into the box finding Bertie Squires-Adams with a header that the Boro keeper managed to hold onto.
Mr. Squires-Adams then scored what can only be classed as a potential goal of the season with a run down the left and a deep cross which found the Boro keeper frantically back peddling as the ball drifted over him and into the back of the goal to make it 2-0.
Was it a fluke or did Squires-Adams see the keeper off his line?
Only Bertie can answer that (and if so would he be honest about it?!!)
Sun's next attack found Dom David with the ball in the area thanks to a Boro defensive error which he hit the ball hard and sweet to make it 3-0.
Sun didn't let off and continued to press as a Squires-Adams cross was deflected by a defender almost in the Boro goal if it hadn't been for their keeper to block it from going in.
Half time 3-0 to the Sun.
The Boro manager clearly had some strong words for his players at half time as again they started the half strong as they pressured to reduce the deficit.
But the Sun defence soaked all the pressure up and Chris Blunden found himself again with space after beating the offside trap, rounded the Boro keeper and, at a difficult angle, hit the ball goalwards which agonisingly rolled across the goal and out for a goal kick.
Blunden again picked the ball up in midfield and delivered a perfect cross ball over to Dom David who controlled the ball and hit it hard towards the goal only for the keeper to save it.
A Broxbourne attack broke down, Craze found Alex Ward, who beat his man and passed towards Dom David, David found Blunden making a run and set a perfect ball to Blunden whos shot beat the keeper but not the post.
Boro tried again to come forward and this time managed to get a shot on goal which Sun keeper Matty Evans got down to well to push past the post.
A long ball from Tommy Walsh was met by Dom David whose one time volleyed pass found Blunden again with only the keeper to beat but the Boro goalie managed to deflect the power of the shot for a defender to clear.
Chris Blunden found himself with time and space and lobbed the ball over the keeper about 20 yards out from goal, ran past him and coolly directed the ball into the net for the fourth of Sun's goals of the day.
Tiredness was starting to tell as a sudden break from Broxbourne Borough found an attacker with a bit of space as they pulled a goal back by sliding the ball past Evans.
This gave Boro a bit of a boost and just before the end of the match they tried to make the goal difference a little less with a well struck free kick which was brilliantly saved by Evans.
The only downside to the performance was a second yellow for Reece McArthur for a challenge which could only be classed as a clash rather than anything malicious.
But the Sun gained their first three points of the season in their first game, you can't do any better than that!
An away trip to Colney Heath on Tuesday night in the league is next.
