Sun Sports v Hayes & Yeading United     3rd Sept 2016      FA Cup  First Qualifying Rd

The dream came to an end on Saturday as Sun Sports lost to Hayes & Yeading in the Emirates FA Cup.
But no one can take away the drive and spirit that they gave and all of Watford should be proud of their non league team.
Hayes and Yeading started the strongest as was expected and tried to get an early goal to settle themselves down but the Sun defence wouldn't give them enough space as they closed down and blocked any chance that the Londoners had.
An early free kick for H&Y was deflected by the wall and fell to one of their forwards but man of the match Matty Evans smothered the ball before he could connect.
Evans made another smart save blocking a shot and then came the Sun's chance to finally get upfield.
Reece McArthur moved into the box with the ball and passed it to Dom David whose deft flick back to McArthur fooled the markers, McArthur then found Tommy Walsh who tried to make some space to let fly but was foiled in the attempt.
From a reds corner the ball was headed out by the Sun and back in again, more head tennis between the sides in the six yard area continued until a header was aimed towards goal but looked to be saved on the line by Evans as the ref waved play on.
The assistant linesman however was not convinced and flagged for the referee to go over and from there he awarded the goal.
1-0 to Hayes & Yeading United
Soon after and Matty Evans was called into action again to make a terifice save from a swerving shot.
Dom David looked lively on the right wing and would have been able to make some good runs if it wasn't for the holding by his marker.
Reece McArthur had a great chance from a lay off by Tommy Walsh but the shot went agonisingly wide of the post.
Dom David had the next opportunity to take a hit at goal but the shot went over the crossbar.

Half time:
Sun Sports 0 - Hayes & Yeading United 1

As the second half started the reds pushed forward again to try to double their lead and had a header and a shot both go close.
But it was from another corner that Hayes & Yeading went 2-0 up but this time there were no complaints from the Sun players as the ball hit the back of the net.
2-0 to Hayes & Yeading
Sun still pushed forward to try and get a goal to get back into the game and Tommy Walsh went close but hit the side netting.
Matty Evans made another great save and Dom David had another chance but hit the post.
If the Sun could have got a goal back then they could have started a marvellous comeback in the rain, however it wasn't to be.
As time went on the reds came back again and hit the crossbar as well as had a goal disallowed for offside.
Chris Blunden then tried an ambitious overhead kick but failed to connect properly.
Sun Sports can be proud of their players as every one of them gave their all and if luck had gone their way it could have been a different team in the draw on Monday.
