Sun Sports v Hoddesdon Town 1st October 2016 SSML Premier
Sun Played against one of their voodoo teams in the Spartan South Midlands League in the form of Hoddesdon Town on Saturday. And each and every Sun player should have been voted man of the match as they worked and played for each other, harassing and covering each other and could have come away with all three points.
Not to take anything away from The Lilywhites as they had most of the possession, especially in the first half and played fast attacking football and looked dangerous with every attack.
Sun keeper Matty Evans was in fine form with a couple of important saves as well as the defensive pairing of Joe Horwood and Gary Wallace keeping Hoddesdon at bay, while Dom David ran at the Town defence with the ball giving them a torrid time.
At half time the score was 0-0 and was still anybody’s game.
Tim O’Sullivan had certainly got his tactics right this time around and the second half continued as the first although the Sun were getting more and more chances as the game went on. That was until the 65th minute when Fraser John was given enough space to curl the ball around Matty Evans to give Hoddesdon the lead.
You could tell by the reaction on the Sun players faces that that goal had hurt them. But they rallied and continued to take the game to the Town by taking chance after chance but nothing was going in. That was until the 95th minute when a silly foul by a Hoddesdon defender gave the Sun the chance of a free kick in the way of a “short corner”.
The free kick was whipped in hard and low and Andy Brennan managed to get his foot to it before any of the defence to cause pandemonium on the pitch as well from the dug out as Pat Fallon ran on the pitch giving arm pumps and Tim O’Sullivan went down the line on a “Mourinho run”!!
Such is the way that Sun Sports want to win points in this league campaign, and if they carry on in this fashion then there should be no reason why we can’t improve on how last season finished!
