Sun Sports v Edgware Town 15th October 2016 SSML Premier
Sun Sports continued their move up the table by comfortably beating Edgware Town.
An attack on the right saw Jamie Speer cross the ball across the six yard area in the opening minutes but was unable to find Dom David who arrived just a fraction too late.
Minutes later and the Edgware keeper was called into action for the first time as a Tommy Walsh free kick was flicked goalbound by Dom David but the keeper for the Greens made a fantastic save to divert the downward header over the bar.
But from the resulting corner an inswinging ball from Walsh found Gary Wallace at the far post who knocked the ball in for his first goal of the season - an early birthday present for the central defender whose birthday was the next day!
Edgware went on the offense from the re-start and with their first attack a long range shot beat Matty Evans but whacked against the upright.
The Sun surged forward again and Chris Blunden curled a beautiful effort over the Edgware keeper to put more breathing space between the sides.
Sun's keeper Matty Evans was brought back into action again but got down well to save a shot from outside of the area.
And Evans was soon involved again when another long range shot cracked against the crossbar and bounced down on the line which Evans grabbed hold of before the ball could bounce anymore, leaving the Edgware players and fans livid that the referee didn't give the goal and diplomatically blew for half time instead.
Ten minutes into the second half and pocket rocket Damien Cruickshank made one of his ranging runs and found Dom David lurking on the edge of the box.
The cross was controlled with his left foot and as the ball came down he nonchalantly hit the ball on the half volley to loop the ball over the keeper into the back of the net.
Chris Blunden chased what seemed to be a lost cause but he kept the ball in and crossed it over finding Tommy Walsh who rose to head the ball just the wrong side of the post.
An Edgware corner was headed goalbound but Damien Cruikshank was on the line to head the ball clear.
However the curse of another Sun defensive mix up caused Edgware to pull a goal back to bring the score to 3-1.
Edgware tried to get back into the game by pushing forward but the Sun caught them on the counter and Dom David ran at the Edgware defence, twisting and turning before firing in a sweet strike to give the Sun their three goal advantage again .
On came new signing Adam Drakulic, signed from Biggleswade United, who bossed the midfield as if he was a Sun veteran by making some good moves and some great forward passes.
Chris Blunden had another chance to put the Sun further ahead after receiving a cross from Jack Johnson but his shot hit the post.
Five minutes before the end and Dom David hit a shot hard and true to beat the Edgware keeper for the fifth time that afternoon claiming his hat trick.
Final Score:
Sun Sports 5 Edgware Town 1
