Cox's Sports 1 Sun Sports 2                                 1961/62                  Rickmansworth Charity Cup

Depleted by clash of heads

A clash of heads between Sun centre half Terry Seaward and a Cox centre forward ruined this game for both sides - and the spectators.
The incident occurred shortly after the kick off when both men went for a high ball.
The home player had to have three stitches put in his head and took no further part of the game.
A patched up Seaward resumed, but obviously felt the effect of his injury.
The result was that Sun tended to be too casual against the depleted opposition and missed their chances, Cox's made praise worthy efforts but their handicap and Sun's seeming indifference hardly made for a thrilling game.
The home side showed plenty of fight and took the lead after 22 minutes through their centre forward.
Sun replied before half time through John Godfrey and got the winning goal five minutes before the end through Johnny Wise.
