Mount Pleasant G.P.O 5 Sun Sports 0 1960/61 St Barts Printers Cup Final
Rain, thunder - and out went the Sun
Although the London team took the cup at Walthamstow on Thursday, Sun Sports provided excellent opposition.
The early minutes probably decided their fate, for in the second half they had most of the play and experienced the hardest of luck in front of goal.
Their close passing, too, was not helped by the conditions, rain fell all through the first half, and in the second it reached a climax in a tremendous thunderstorm which made most of the ground a sheet of water.
G.P.O, a fast moving side, caught goalkeeper Cliff Langley out with a long shot after 14 minutes and four minutes before half time the Mount Pleasant side added a second with Sun's defence in a tangle.
Sun had already had their share of bad luck in front of goal, and it continued in the second half.
At the end of 62 minutes they were five goals down, and decided to throw everything into attack.
G.P.O had some fantastic escapes, notably when the ball struck their goalkeeper as he lay on the ground after saving from Williams.
