Kings Langley 1 Sun Sports 1 1961/62 HCL Prem
This was better, Sun!
Sun Sports showed better form on Saturday than they had done in their midweek encounter with Bedmond; but for an early second half injury to their centre half they might easily have come away with both points.
Certainly in the first half Sun had the better of the exchanges.
They made several sorties without success before Eric Williams got over a centre which Terry Hogan met to open the scoring after 36 minutes.
A short while before, Langley had almost scored with Andy Holmes hitting the crossbar.
Spurred on by their success, Sun put in some more promising raids and a continental style overhead kick by Johnny Wise took the defence by surprise - but not the home goalkeeper, who happened to be in line with the flight of the ball.
Langley showed better cohesion in the second half and from an early right wing movement Holmes equalised.
His twenty yard shot looked a harmless enough affair, but somehow it trickled over the line.
It was shortly after this that Sun's stand in centre half Tom Barber was injured, and with his mishap the team's hopes of success faded.
