Own goals prove costly for Sun
Two own goals proved costly for Sun Sports, who returned to their home ground for only the second time this season, and they went down to Knebworth in the Premier Division of the Herts County League on Saturday.
Sun made a fine start when Barry Phillips brought the visiting goalkeeper to a brilliant save following a cross from left winger John Taylor.
In the tenth minute, however, the visitors went ahead when a Sun defender headed a corner into his own net.
Five minutes later, Knebworth scored their second when Bernard Tofield, the Sun goalkeeper, dropped a free kick at the feet of the Knebworth centre forward who made no mistake.
Before half time, Knebworth went 3-0 and their fourth came from another own goal soon after the interval.
Sun staged a fine rally in the last 15 minutes and pulled back two goals through Dave Scutchings and Gerald Bunce, but the four goal gap was too great for them to bridge completely.
