Welwyn Garden City 7 Sun Sports 1                           1961/62                              HCL Prem

Depleted Sun lose to Welwyn

Sun crashed to their heaviest defeat of the season on Saturday after an injury to right half Phil Bass had reduced them to 10 men and a passenger and, finally, just 10 men.
Sun had the better of the game in the first 15 minutes, but their luck went sour when Bass was involved in a clash of heads with a Welwyn player and left the field for attention.
He returned to play out the first half, but at the interval he was taken to the local hospital to have stitches put in a nasty wound.
Although the Sun fought valiantly, they could not prevent the home side from scoring four times before the interval and adding another three in the second half.
Sun gained some consolation with a well taken goal by centre forward Roger Millest.
Despite their lack of luck, Sun were pleased with the performance of David Cresswell, normally a reserve side player, who was given a trial at inside right.
he found the going harder than he was accustomed to, but looked a good prospect for the future.
