Sun Sports 5 Boreham Wood Saints 3 1964/65 Herts Intermediate Cup
Sun through in extra time
Sun Sports inside right Ron Cole scored a hat trick to help his side to an extra time win in the second round of the Herts Intermediate Cup on Saturday.
Cole got his first goal after only 4 minutes wit a rising shot.
A minute later he missed an easier chance by shooting wide.
Play now became fast and furious and after 12 minutes the Saints got on terms by converting a penalty for hands.
Both goals continued to have close shaves and when in the 25th minute a Sun forward was brought down in the penalty area, Cole stepped forward to restore his side's lead with the spot kick.
Sun looked impressive with their approach work in the second half, but they were a little slow of shot on occasions, and off target more frequently.
Hence Saints took the opportunity to level the scores once more 11 minutes from the end.
When the visitors went ahead in the seventh minute of extra time it seemed that Sun's wasteful finishing would cost them dear.
Not so, however, for piling on the pressure Terry Reynolds rounded off a progressive movement.
When Dave Scutchings, who had earlier hit the bar, made progress on the left Reynolds moved in for the centre and scored again.
Last word was with Cole who rubbed in Sun's revitalisation with his third goal.
