English Electric 0 Sun Sports 1 1958/59 HCL Div One
Injuries didn't stop Sun from winning
Sun only had nine sound men when they scored the winning goal, and thus clinched maximum points from three successive games.
In the eleventh minute, goalkeeper Bob Glover pulled a muscle and was off the field for several minutes while Mick Tamplin deputised.
He returned limping and did well to keep his charge intact for the rest of the game.
A more serious injury was centre forward Roger Leach, who cut a knee badly just before half time and was taken to Hitchin Hospital for treatment.
English Electric lacked the craft to break down a strong Sun defence and in the second half Sun adapted themselves to their four man forward line and were the only side looking likely to score.
The winning goal came mid-way through the half when Mick Brightman raced away, passed to Terry Willis, who pushed the ball on for Mick Tamplin to score with a grand cross shot.
