Sun strike a title blow

By beating the Division One leaders on their own ground, Sun struck a great blow for their championship cause.
They are now only one point behind Marconi with two games in hand.
Their win on Saturday did not flatter them, the more the game wore on the more Sun's goof football told and there was only the possibility of Marconi's scoring a breakaway goal.
Sun thought they should have had a goal when a Bass shot came down from the underside of the crossbar.
But Eric Williams gave them the lead five minutes before half time, and when Johnny Wise was fouled in the 70th minute, Len Mellor had the goalkeeper McShane going the wrong way with his penalty kick.
Sun were strongly served in defence and the only criticism of their forwards was that they might have deleted some of the passing in front of goal.
Otherwise, theirs was an excellent display.
