Sun slip pleases Marconi

Here was a result that promotion seeking Marconi Instruments must have been pleased to hear, especially as they thrashed St Helen's 5-0 the same afternoon.
Now it looks as though Marconi are booked for the Division One Championship - but Sun can still be runners up.
Sun beat Stanstead 6-1 in November, but on Saturday they found them a much improved side.
Stanstead had fewer gilt edged chances, but Bert Dearman was not as sure as usual in the Sun goal in the first half, and this, combined with a bad miss early in the second, made all the difference between one point or two.
Stanstead went ahead through a penalty, but Eric Williams equalised in the 35th minute although Stanstead were soon ahead again.
Terry Willis levelled the score before the interval.
In the second half, first Sun, then Stanstead and then Sun again had their spells of all out attack, but the defences stayed firm.
