Sun Sports 2 Amalgamated Press 1             1951/52                  St Barts Printers Cup Semi-Final

The Sun really did shine
Three teams - three finals

It doesn't fall to every club to qualify on one day for three finals, but Sun Sports did it on Saturday.
While the senior side were beating Amalgamated Press 2-1 in the semi-final of the St Barts (Printers) Cup, the club's two minor elevens were both winning their way into County finals.
The Under 18's won their semi-final replay with Baker Technical School by the odd goal in three in an exciting tussle at Hertford, and the Under 16's made sure of entering the final of their
County competition by trouncing St. Mary's B.C, Cheshunt, by 9-3.

A stop press winner

Amalgamated Press put strong resistance in the Printer's Cup semi-final and right to the end of extra time looked likely to force a draw.
Sun took the lead after 38 minutes when Hutton finished off a fine centre by Compton, but two minutes later Everitt had squared matters up.
Sun missed from the penalty spot in the second half, and with the game going to extra time there was
no "Stop Press" news until midway through the final period, when Element netted the winner with a low shot from 20 yards out.

Sun Sports: Powell, Barnett, Darnell, Putman, Eldridge, Keeling, McDonald, Element, Hitton, Compton, Maley.

Under 18's win a thriller

Sun did well to beat William Baker Technical School (Hertford) 3-2 to qualify for the Herts Under 18 Cup Final.
The school never knew when they were beaten and succumbed only after a very hard struggle.
Willis took advantage of a defensive error after 15 minutes, but the school's long passing made them dangerous in swift raids and they equalised just before half time.
Margrave had a penalty kick saved in the second half, but Sun continued to play confidently, and Bass (20 minutes) and Williams (35 minutes) scored well deserved goals.
The school, however, remained in the picture and with less than a minute to go scored from a direct free kick.

Sun Sports: Storer, Kinney, Collins, Bransford, Margrave, Turnbull, Dearman, Kenny, Bass, Willis, Williams.

Under 16's goal rush

Sun's Under 16 team qualified for the County Cup final in no uncertain manner.
For the first 15 minutes they looked well matched, but after that they began the goal rush that carried them to a 9-3 victory.
Kent, O'Doherty (penalty), Robinson (2), and Cooper all scored before half time, at which stage the Sun lead 5-2.
And in the second half further goals were added by Cooper (3), and Conroy.
St Mary's netted their third goal in the last minute.
Sun played well as a team, with the wing halves in particulary good form.

Sun Sports: Hill, Cox, O'Doherty, Noble, Edwards, Carpenter, Kent, Adlam, Cooper, Conroy, Robinson.
